Fabric Panels On Creative Tuesdays

Today I wanted to fix a white tote bag made with high-quality fabric, but it had a message I didn’t want to display. I picked one of the fabric panels with my art of the yellow flame tree flower, and I loved the result. As you can see, there are lots of fabric panels waiting to be cut individually. Then I looked up a tote bag mockup, and I love how the other artworks look on it.

After checking a few of my fabric panel sizes, I realized I should sell larger square panels to make a better fit for tote bags. You can see why in the images below. The current square panel size is 5.5 inches, and maybe 6.5 inches or larger would look better on this 13 x 15-inch tote bag. I’ll be considering adding larger square panel sizes to the store because I really love how they look on tote bags. But just look how great the rectangular sizes fit too! Go check my Etsy shop here for more designs.
I’m planning a compilation of fabric projects using my art on fabric panels. Maybe a book is on the horizon soon! I’d love to include project ideas suggested by clients who buy the fabric panels—or even readers of this blog.
The idea of covering a message or design you don’t like on a tote bag actually came from a college friend. She used the Old San Juan Houses design to fix a onesie for her grandson, and I immediately bought a onesie mockup to add that design to the store because I love the way it looks.

I used the tote bag—with a plastic liner—to collect reclaimed wood from the beach, which I’ll use to mount the little ceramic bells I’ve been making. This time they’ll be used in the class I’m teaching next Saturday. Below is an image of the bells students will be painting! They are very simple but look so cute mounted on the reclaimed wood from the beach.

I am very grateful that the 2026 calendars, A Whimsical Year and Un Año Mágico (Spanish version), are starting to get reviews, and people are very pleased with them—especially because 6 of the 12 artworks can be framed. They’re available in English or Spanish [here].
I'm also grateful for my new studio space and the bright light ✨, and I’ve noticed I feel more inspired and motivated to work and create here. ☺️

This is all for a Creative Tuesdays! What are you creating today? maybe new food ideas? Anyone making bread? I would love to learn to add flavors to the sourdough I have been making. Any ideas? 💡
Wishing you a great week full of creativity and love!
With love,
