Ever since I started painting I found out about my attraction to collage and mixed media. Now I can look back and see how that connection to mix things is palpable in almost everything I do. Maybe that is why I can't just do one thing alone. For example, I could be focused on ceramic and everything around me will "speak" ceramic. I could be focused on collage painting and the same will happen. I know deep inside that I can't be happy working in just one medium. I have tried, but I just can't. So, I am letting my inner voice speak to me more often and even that I am worried sometimes about the outcome, I trust. I am loving the idea of sharing my art and let those who love crafts, sewing, quilting, embroidering and even ceramic make use of it in whatever project they like. I was not thinking about this when I started the embroidery courses. I enrolled in them after a friend told me about the Domestika courses. When I looked up at the courses my heart fluttered. I got immersed in the first course and then I couldn't stop. I am already inspired by many artists from places like Spain, Argentina, Mexico and Portugal. Now I have finished 4 embroidery courses but that is not all, I also took three courses in ceramic to learn a different way of creating ceramic pieces mostly for my own satisfaction. As soon as I started the first embroidery course my creative self exploded, again. I could imagine my collage paintings with stitches, my geometric designs for fabric with hand stitches and my pillow covers with hand stitches. I haven't done any of them yet because I found a "New World" of embroidery and now I need to learn and practice more and more.
Today it's Tuesday and it's time for the craft. I planned to make a bag with a rectangular fabric with my art. It was supposed to be the same size of the fabric panel, 6 inches x 9 inches but I did more than that. I used the 6x9 fabric panel and made a collage with a few scraps of fabric. I really wanted to create a collage with different kind of fabrics with designs on it but I couldn't find pieces of fabric matching the fabric panel. I did find some pieces of fabric that I could use but in a full color. During the process of cutting and realized I could add a simple embroider using the basic stitches, which by the way are my favorite. Using the fabric panel that you can buy on Etsy I made the bag. I embroidered, with a simple stitch, the word "AMORE" (Italian word for Love). I love Italian and didn't want to choose between English and Spanish.
Some more details of the bag below:

I am not selling this bag nor is my intention to market this kind of product. What I really want is to share the idea using the fabric panels with my art. Isn't this cool? You can find this fabric panel here.
Another thing that was a surprise for me is the idea of selling my drawings to be embroidered by hand or with the embroidery machine. I am enjoying this project and I want to show you right now the first embroidery design that will be added to my store soon as a downloadable file for all of you that love to buy embroidery designs like I did when I was younger. I still can remember that feeling of buying a new embroidery kit.

Stay tuned for more ideas using my fabric panels and the downloadable files. Also check my previous post for information about a project I'm working mostly with ceramics.
I hope you are following your creative dreams doing what make your heart flutter.
Stay Safe,
From my heart,
Elizabeth Claire
