Hi! It's Tuesday again and as promised I'll share more gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season. I love to make my Christmas gifts. Usually and because I spent the last 24 years designing and making ceramics, my gifts most of the time were ceramic pieces, always trying to guess which of the pieces my sisters, brothers or friends would like to have. In the past years I started making the pillow covers with my collage painting art printed on fabric and added them as a possible gift except for my sisters and friends who were super kind to buy them for their homes or for a gift. Now that I found my long lost love of making crafts with fabric I am thrilled to start making some for this next holiday season. I have to say that I am not that good at sewing. People who know me could say it's not true but I am sure, I am not that good and for that reason I prefer to share videos from really good teachers that make crafts with fabric. Maybe I'll get there at some point and maybe not but I am enjoying the process and doing my best. . This is another reason why I sell my art printed on fabric for those of you that good or not that good sewing love to make crafts with fabric.
As the 4th gift idea for the upcoming season I am showing a mug rug I made with a small fabric panel featuring an extract of the collage painting "The Key to Life, Love" which I use on a recent post here.
This time I used a different area of the art which was also printed on fabric recently.
With the help of Procreate I fixed a few things to make the art suitable for a square form and VOILA!! Actually, the reason I chose another area of the art was because the owner of this original wants two pillow covers from different areas of the art and I only had one.

I had some issues with the printing on the fabric and the house is lost in the background. The actual print on fabric doesn't look at all like the image above. Except for the pillow cover pieces which are 18x18 inches, the rest of the fabric panels had a problem. I'm telling you this because you will see a difference in the art above and the art on the mug rug. Of course I looked for a solution and I used my textile paints to fix the problem in the fabric panel used and this is the result... a beautiful 4x8 inches mug rug. I messed up a bit the area of the house with the free motion stitches but I think it is okay! I was just practicing new things and maybe I need to be more careful.
GIFT IDEA # 4
I made the mug rug with a 5"x5" fabric panel, one 5"x5" piece of the blue cotton fabric for the side, one piece 5"x9" of the same blue fabric, 5"x9" batting, a fabric scrap for the heart and a small piece of fabric web to add the heart to the fabric as an applique. you can follow the instructions for a similar mug rug in a tutorial I found a few weeks ago that inspired me to make one with my fabric panel. I think this is a really cute gift for someone who loves coffee, tea and art!
As my 5th gift idea I'll share a few pillow covers with my art available on ETSY. Also, instead of buying the pillow cover, if you can sew it, the fabric panels for the pillow covers are also available. If for any reason the one you like is not available as a fabric panel feel free to message me through Etsy and I''l do my best to make it available.
Below are a few of the designs available as pillow covers and/or fabric panels.
